Hi. I'm J. Curtis.
Most of my stories start with a simple what if?—a small question that opens the door to something bigger. I’m interested in the push and pull between people and the world around them: how we shape it, and how it shapes us in return.
My background’s a bit of a zigzag—short films, live events, product development, engineering, publishing. I’ve worked with designers, led teams of hardware and packaging nerds, and helped authors get their books across the finish line. Through it all, I’ve learned that good stories (and good systems) are both grounded and inventive.
These days, I live in Northern California with my wife and two kids. I spend more time in the garden than I used to, and I’ve found that quiet work—digging, tending, noticing—has a way of showing up in my writing too.
Thanks for stopping by. I’d love to trade stories sometime.
